Remember dinger's book?

Back in March and April on CL's forum there were various topics about the book Mandy's Fairies written/put together by dinger for her late daughter Mandy who died of leukemia. She was helped in all this by her sister, shedheaven.

The book has now been published and sales are doing excellently, and you can find the various messages/chats by going to the site and searching for Mandy's Fairies.

Whooo that avatar gave me the spooks.

I miss a lot of the chats across the way, daren't go back but don't even now if I'd be allowed under the circumstances anyway.

What is the book about or is that a stupid question?

Pleased that the book is doing well. Personally feel very uncomfortable having the Avatar without permission on our site - I would be very unhappy if someone used mine

Erm Jacko are you sure that green duck is not copyright?

Power to the book! But I am sure we would all have looked without the green duck dear.

After her daughter died from leukemia, don't remember at what age, she decided to put together a book of verses and sell it to raise money for leukemia research.

Yes, millions suffer, lita o'peat, but I hope that if ever anything like that, heaven forfend, happened to me or mine I would make as much effort as her finding out about it and trying to do something.

As for the duck, now gone, it is a recognisable CL symbol so people who know of CL in whatever context might realise it was something to do with that magazine or its contents. Which it was.

I will look for it and also recommend it to a close friend of mine. Her Mum died of Lukemia when my friend was just 14 and it obviously had a huge impact on her life.
    Thanks

sorry jacko, I took the comment off; realised it might be offensive. having lived in a third world country though I've met many who didn't and will never have the option of publicising anything and will not receive the benefits of charitable deeds; I'm not denegrating the worth of such an effort, not by any means; I applaud it with all my soul and I really hope the book does well and raises money for leukemia research.

I'm always thinking but not actually doing anything about those without our advantages. maybe it's a conscience thing.

Hi Jacko - realise that the Duck was a symbol - problem is - it is someone else's symbol . . as I said I would not be happy if my copyright Avatar got used without my permission. If CL give you permission to use the duck to highlight the book. . then not a problem.
