Oven gloves flambee

I was standing in the kitchen tonight, leaning on the stove, waiting for the dinner to cook when Husband came in wearing One of His Looks. Oh heck, what had I done now?
He pointed to my hand, which was on fire (well, the oven glove it was wearing was). I was wondering why it felt a bit warm! I was also wondering why I could smell burning... He grabbed the glove, with its really quite impressive flames, and doused it in the sink before leaving the room, eyes raised to heaven.
Time, I think, for a glass of wine! Incidentally, I don't often burn the food, just the gloves...

Berlimey! I did for one second wonder how a pic of my very own oven gloves had suddenly popped up, thank goodness someone else gets up to the same things. Husbands can be so useful at times, don't you think!

At least you are sensible enough to wear gloves. I often grab the nearest tea towel and have aga burns all over my wrists as a result. The Farmer despairs!

I will add this little tip to my list of ways to get out of cooking dinner and into a restaurant! I think that timing is 'all' though as I don't want to burn my hands - just any idea of eating at home!
