Garden pests
If you look carefully you will see two of the reasons I find it impossible to grow roses or tulips or any number of lovely plants. I've become an expert on all things unpalatable to deer - the sour, the fuzzy, the poisonous. It's a constant challenge. I think that if you put your cursor on the photos and click that it will enlarge and allow you to find the little darlings. Some mornings they come with their whole extended family to dine and dash.

I have just the same problem with Badgers- they dont eat stuff, just dig it up or create a new path through it. Wouldnt mind if I got any pleasure out of watching them but all I ever see is the wreckage!

They are beautiful creatures though. We see them sometimes on the other side of the river but unlike the mink they don't swim over and scale the fence!

Oh Lesley suffered the same fate with her roses and tulips and anything else that she might try and grow in the garden.
Near the house an army of peacocks finished off what the deer could not reach.
However you have to admit they are just soooooooo beautfull.

Re badgers Grouse, old Brock is very much a creature of habit so you have possibly planted on his highroad in which case you have no choice but to give in and just accept that this route is a badger path, unless he is just digging fopr yummy grubs inwhich case try putting cat food ( iam sure someone will come back adn yell if I have it wrong) and he will ocme closer to the house so you can see him.

I have exactly the same problem with deer and rabbits. My garden now has lots of wire enclosures round plants that I want to grow but the wildlife thinks its dinner!
I even tried the plant selections in "gardening with the enemy", but even the plants supposed to be poisonous to them are eaten - to no ill effect might I add.
The deer are very bold here and will happily munch in one garden then wander down the road to the next one - like a safari supper really!

I feel the same - animals were here long before we were and doing very nicely thank you until we came along and b**gered it all up. There are a few holiday cottages down the track from us - all with plants 'in prison' which the deer and rabbits liberate on a daily basis - makes me smile!
