Famous Blunders

I listened with amusement to Chris Evans talking to Mike Rutherford on Radio 2 this afternoon, not that their conversation was amusing but it made me think of exmoorjanes question about "who do you know who is famous?."

I had quite forgotten until I heard them talking, that my "current husband" (who to say the least is a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to music and literature) went some years ago to a party held by Mikes wife Angie who he knew through the horse world. When he arrived he was immediately introduced to Mike.

Not having a clue what he did he happily "small talked " . After a while he said to Mike

"Do you work nearby"

"Yes came the reply I have a studio at the end of the garden"

Current husband enquired "Oh are you a potter?"

I do fear for him sometimes!! Best send him back to his Military Bands and War books.

Blossom - that is a sweet story about your current husband! The Great Dane was on a commuter plane with the olympic gold medal rower Silken Lauman. She leaned over and asked him if they'd met. He told me when I picked him up and said "Hey, you were on the plane with Silken"..."OH is that who she was? I thought it might have been someone from the church".
    Gotta love them!

When I lived in London, The Beatles came into the shop, and I served all four of them. Used to see Fern Britton's father Anthony near where I lived there, also Benny Hill, and the other comedian Dickie Henderson. Benny Hill always wore a drab raincoat, and carried a plastic bag.

    That's a classic Blossom.
We live near Mike Rutherford and Stan has delivered stuff to his house but not seen him at home.
Phil Collins was always in the pub at Wisborough Green, Sophies boyfriend used to see him regularly.

You know, and this is wildly embarrassing, but I had to look at the comments before I could remember who Mike Rutherford was... I thought, oh he does cricket, doesn't he? But then the studio didn't fit.... I mucked up big-time with Phil Collins....I was interviewing him just before he split u p with his wife (can't remember which one) and he kept dropping hints like fury about it (not sure why) which I ignored and kept banging on about how lovely it was to find a rock star who was happily married, blah blah..... possibly why I never cut it as a gossip columnist!!
